Smartphone in Car
Apps are now a must for drivers to bring old cars right up to date. Most people have a smartphone that provides a huge range of useful apps which will make your driving experience easier and safer. Save time, cash and stay safe while driving, using some of the following apps:-

    • Waze – this amazing app is free on iOS, Android and Windows so that’s a good start. Use your smartphone to download Waze and use it to get from A to B in the shortest possible time. Real-time traffic info is also supplied along with petrol prices as well as alternative routes to take if there are traffic jams. Waze is an ideal, easy to use app, so give it a try soon.

Petrol prices

    • Petrolprices – this marvellous app lets you know where the nearest petrol station is and gives you the prices for the cheapest fuel, LPG including diesel. All fuel prices are updated on a daily basis so they are reliable and correct. Take a look at the map on the app to find out the best prices of the fuel you need. Do you have a Nectar card? You can find petrol stations that take Nectar cards whether they are 5 or 20 miles away from your position. Available to download for both iOS and Android.

    • Carcorder – is a dashboard camera that records your journey no matter where you are. Stay safe on the roads with an app that transforms your smartphone into a video recorder. All you need to do is mount the phone on the windscreen, rear camera facing the road and off you go. Your phone’s camera will do all the work for you recording other drivers, road conditions and (hopefully not in your case) any accidents. Available from the Apple iOS store here.

    • iOnRoad – this affordable app appeals to those drivers who just love gadgets. It’s a reality driving app and uses your phone’s camera along with motion sensors and the in-built GPS. It maps the road you’re taking and shows lots of useful information. The iOnRoad app also displays the time and distance to the car in front of you, your speed and reads speed limit signs. If you get too close to the car in front, an alert will sound. Speeding? A warning is given both visually and audibly.

    • Parkopedia – this free iOS and Android app is perfect when you’re searching for a parking space. It maps and lists each parking space throughout the world! If you’re in a town or city for the first time, or driving abroad, Parkopedia works in 75 countries covering more than 38m parking spaces. Just put in an address, filter your search results, decide whether you want undercover or free parking and press go.

Want to make your car journey more relaxing and enjoyable? Check out the many music apps available to listen to your favourite songs. Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio and many others are free, so download them now.

Remember to never use your phone while driving. For your safety and other road users, buy a hands-free kit. Also make sure the apps are UK based!
